Despotović: Joković and Đaković once again showed irresponsibility and negligence in the fight against Q fever

AUTHOR: M.J.
"The leaders of Montenegrin institutions, more precisely the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Joković and the Director of the Food Safety Administration Vladimir Đaković, guesting on the program "Naglas", once again demonstrated the absence of responsibility in the fight against the infectious disease Q fever," said Aleksandra Despotović, professor of Biotechnical Faculty of UCG and MP of DPS in the Parliament of Montenegro.
As he states, the question arises whether they are aware of the contradictions of their statements.
"Is it possible that they do not feel morally responsible for hiding the occurrence of the disease from the public? No, they are still angry and say that the topic is "overemphasized" in the media. An attempt to justify and shift the responsibility to another, as well as an attempt to neutralize those who deviate attention to the alarming nature of the situation, shows unprofessionalism, lack of expertise and inability to cope with a crisis situation," says Despotović.
It indicates that they tried to hide according to that old adage - offense is the best defense.
"While they talk about how Q fever existed before, which no one denies, while they list the countries where Q fever appears, they ignore the answer to essential questions: Where did so many infected throats come from in the territory of Montenegro, more precisely in the municipalities of Nikšić and Danilovgrad? Have the causes of the disease been discovered, because right now everyone is dealing with the consequences, and no one is talking about the cause," she says.
Despotović points out that yesterday on the Public Service, the leaders of the most responsible institutions announced that while the fight against the disease continues, they cannot deal with the responsibility of individual institutions.
"So, they admitted that the disease still exists, and that it has been hidden from the public eye for a long period of time. The attempt to relativize it did not work, because the consequences are obviously serious and how it will affect the already decimated livestock in Montenegro." she noted.
She called on the director of the Food Safety Administration to inform the public about the exact number of tested cows, the number of infected cows, and the number of euthanized cows.
"The data presented in the show are unclear and imprecise, because there is still clearly no available accurate information from the field. Considering the way the heads of institutions relate to the appearance of Q fever, it is obvious that agriculture is losing its status as the primary branch in Montenegro It's burning. Time will tell whether it's a coincidence or an intention," Despotović concluded.
