Djukanovic: The right we sought for ourselves is also for others, the EU and NATO, to be more active in our region

The relations between Montenegro and Poland are relations of partnership and friendship that go back to the time when Montenegro was a kingdom, said the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović after the meeting with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda.
The main topic of the second meeting at the highest level between the presidents of the two countries during a period of less than a year was Russia's aggression against Ukraine with security implications for Europe.
"This was an opportunity to exchange information on the current state of the problem, potential reflections on the area of a vulnerable European region such as the Western Balkans. I expressed admiration that Poland is enduring the duration of Russian aggression. Everything that Poland does as a responsible neighbor is worthy of respect," Djukanovic said.
As he explained, Poland is at the epicenter of efforts that make Ukraine persist in defending its independence and territorial integrity.
"This is not only aggression against Ukraine, but against European values and unity. Poland is one of the leaders, and Montenegro is a small but sincere ally in preventing this escalation," said Đukanović.
The reflections of that crisis on the Western Balkans are, he says, very visible and harmful.
"We see that the Western Balkans is in a worse state than it was a few years ago. The public of our region is shaken with regard to the reality of the foreseeable European perspective due to the absence of EU policy on the one hand and the Russian destructive policy on the other," said Đukanović, emphasizing that they encourage the EU and NATO to preserve the Western Balkans region in the sphere and within the framework of European and Euro-Atlantic values. .
Duda Đukanović: Montenegro is welcome to the three seas initiative
We support Montenegro's entry into the EU and we support the open door policy, Polish President Andrzej Duda said at a press conference with his Montenegrin counterpart Milo Đukanović.
The main topic of the conversation was the situation in the international field, Duda pointed out.
"I presented to Mr. President what the situation is regarding the Russian aggression against Ukraine, how we, as a neighboring country, look at everything that is happening on the front line. I asked him how he sees the situation in his region, in the neighborhood, how he sees the situation in the Balkans, how he looks at the problem in BH, Kosovo, Serbia and neighboring countries, all these issues that are important, and these issues are also important for Montenegro, and the same for us.
We support Montenegro's entry into the EU and we support the open door policy. "I also proposed to our collaborators and allies of the three seas that Montenegro has the same status within the three seas, the same status as Ukraine," said Duda.
I hope that for Montenegro it will mean full membership in the three seas initiative, but for us it will be an ally state within that initiative, said the Polish president.
"I promised the president that I would present it to our partners in the Three Seas Initiative because I want to expand that initiative. Montenegro is in that area, Montenegro is on the Adriatic and has access to that third or second sea, the Baltic, the Adriatic, the Black Sea and that is an important direction for us and the direction in which we want to go in the future and we want to develop our cooperation," said Duda.
