Filipović and Zeković wrote to Abazović and Adžić: The undermining of pro-western Moldova requires a decisive reaction from Montenegro

Members of the Civic Initiative "May 21" Ljubomir Filipović and Aleksandar Saša Zeković requested a decisive and quick reaction from state authorities and the Montenegrin security-intelligence community regarding the officially confirmed allegations that Montenegrin citizens are participating in undermining the pro-Western government of Moldova, it was announced from GI "21 May".
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maja Sandu, announced at a briefing on the security situation that the institutions of that country confirmed the statement of the President of Ukraine that the Russian Federation is planning to destabilize Moldova.
The president of Moldova announced that, thanks to Ukrainian partners, the subversive intentions of Russia are well documented and that these materials also contain clear guidelines for various provocative activities of Montenegrin citizens.
The intention is to bring a puppet government to power, stop the European integration of the country, and put Moldova at the disposal of Russia in the overall sense, especially in the war against Ukraine," assessed Filipović and Zeković in a letter to Prime Minister Dritan Abazović and Interior Minister Filip Adžić.
In recent years, the Russian intelligence services have been intensively trying to manipulate the countries of Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans. This was particularly felt by Montenegro through the undermining of its stability, internal cohesion, the halting of EU accession and the renunciation of the policy and practice of respect for human rights and basic freedoms. A good part of these activities was carried out through the so-called litija protests and the constant deepening of divisions between Montenegrins and Serbs - announced Filipović and Zeković.
They believe that the president of Moldova, unlike the state leadership of Montenegro (from 2020), openly, clearly and officially called on her citizens to exercise maximum caution.
The president of Moldova clearly indicated the existence of a plan for violent actions by military-trained saboteurs, camouflaged in civilian clothes, who were supposed to carry out attacks on the facilities of state bodies, even taking hostages. The president of Moldova clearly recognized the various pro-Russian branches and individuals, and she particularly highlighted populist political and parapolitically influential structures - they stated.
Filipović and Zeković added that "there are also numerous political parties and organizations in Montenegro, as well as citizens' associations and Orthodox Saint Sava religious groups, as well as part of the Serbian Orthodox Church, with which the authorities and the intelligence sector of Russia nurture relations, recognize and support them as long-term partners".
They appealed to Abazović and Adžić to pay preventive attention to their actions in accordance with laws and standards.
Information that Montenegrin citizens are working to undermine the pro-Western government of Moldova deserves and requires a decisive and quick reaction from state authorities and the Montenegrin security-intelligence community.
