HGI mandate confirmed, Vuksanović: Taking away the parliamentary seat would mean that Croats are undesirable

The State Election Commission determined the provisional results of the extraordinary parliamentary elections, according to which the Croatian Civic Initiative received one mandate in the Parliament of Montenegro. Pobjeda unofficially learns that at the previous session, representatives of all parties unanimously confirmed the decision.
However, speculations that the mandate of HGI could be taken away were expressed this morning by former member of parliament Snežana Jonica, who said that minority parties could get three mandates, which, as she said, "in the context of mathematics, probably excludes HGI as the weaker of the two Albanian lists "
The law on the election of councilors and deputies states that minority parties that win less than three and more than 0.7 percent participate in the distribution of three mandates. Currently, the situation is such that the Albanian Forum has two mandates, the Albanian Alliance one, as well as the HGI. So, a total of four, out of the legally stipulated three mandates.
The president of the Croatian Civic Initiative, Adrijan Vuksanović, said that taking away the mandate of the HGI would be extremely discriminatory and would make the election process meaningless.
Vuksanović says for Pobjeda that taking away the mandate of the HGI, which Jonica talked about, would be a sign that Croats are not wanted on the public stage and that, he says, would make the election process meaningless.
In the right, it can never be less, and should someone now try to punish us because we achieved an extraordinary election result. That would make the election process pointless, because how can we perform in the next elections without moving within the 0.35 - 0.7 range. Is it a message that the Croats must be limited and that their influence must be reduced, and you know the influence of HGI - the protection of multiculturalism, multinational harmony and the strengthening of the state subjectivity of Montenegro. If that bothers someone, I can't do anything about it - pointed out Vuksanović.
He also says that the law can be interpreted linguistically, just like any other law, in different ways, but the spirit of the norm, says Vuksanović, is that if Croats win 0.35 percent of the vote, they should be given representation in political life.
Instead of having two mandates, someone wants to take that one away from us. This speaks of the importance of the policy led by HGI, and that policy is aimed at protecting the national identity and strengthening the state-forming substance of Montenegro. We will not allow that - concludes Vuksanović, adding that it would be an extremely bad message to Croats in Montenegro, to all citizens, and to the international community as well.
