The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Analene Berbok, comes at a time when Montenegro is making significant progress on its European path - said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Filip Ivanović.
At today's press conference, he said that the visit to Berbok reflects commitment to bilateral cooperation and maintaining political dialogue.
Montenegro appreciates and carefully follows the views of our European partners. We believe that the expansion process is realistic and feasible. This is our main foreign policy goal and we are committed to it. Our EU perspective is clear and unwavering. Even today, I pointed out that the region has a place in the EU. The relations between the two countries are excellent, friendly and meaningful - said Ivanovic.
Part of that compliance is the adoption of a package of sanctions against Russia. I thanked for the support in key areas with the expectation that it will not be absent in the coming period either - he stated.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Analene Berbok, said that the enlargement of the EU is becoming a political imperative, and that it must not be allowed to have gray areas in Europe that will go towards Russia.
He adds that the implementation of reforms requires leadership and commitment, and that there is only one path for this government, and that is the path to the EU.
The results should be achieved by the summer, because it would be a strong signal to those who want to prevent that path. The European project is the guarantor of freedom, democracy and the rule of law. We want to take advantage of the new dynamics and move side by side with Montenegro towards the EU. The future EU must strengthen its structures and reform its decision-making processes - underlined Berbok.
He emphasizes that "only a fast-reacting EU can be a player in world politics".
You have shown leadership not only in internal politics, but also in the region. It is important that the mistakes that have been made are corrected, and this applies to us and to you, because Europe was not ready when it was necessary to find money for various projects. When you have a coalition with several partners, I know it's not easy. Whenever you take a new step in the EU, we will be with you - she stated.
He emphasizes that the enlargement of the EU serves everyone in order to make Europe stronger and that everyone must do their "homework as quickly as possible".
On the other side are those who want to divide us and weaken our democracy. Strengthening internal legal security is the way to strengthen the Union. Our life insurance is NATO and EU. That is why it is important that all countries of the region have both of these insurances in the future - said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
She expressed her satisfaction with the agreement on some future projects, such as the wind farm.
This means 10 percent more ecologically clean energy - said Berbok.
