Ljubo Čupić's grave desecrated: With a sharp object by the name and year of birth and death of the Montenegrin hero

An unknown perpetrator tried to use a sharp object to erase the name and year of birth and execution of the Montenegrin hero and icon of resistance to fascism - Čedomir Ljub Čupić.
Traces of anti-civilization activity are visible on the plaque, and the perpetrator took special care to remove the pentacle - the symbol under which Montenegro rose to fight for freedom and equality, regained its name and placed itself among the countries that resisted fascism, Nazism and the blackest dictatorship of the 20th century. century.
Ljubo Čupić and his legendary smile are a symbol of Montenegro.
Pre-war leftist, Belgrade law student, partisan commissar, Čupić was born in July 1942. captured on Kablena glavica and together with partisan Joko Baletić taken to Nikšić. The Chetnik court sentenced the Montenegrin patriots - Joko to death by hanging, and Ljub to death by shooting.
Because of his heroic demeanor during the trial and in the losing ground, because of his smile of defiance and invincibility, Josip Broz Tito posthumously awarded Ljub Čupić with the Order of National Hero in 1953.
His photo with an expression of defiance traveled the world and was exhibited in almost every museum with World War II settings.
The symbolism of Ljub's smile is so strong that even a dead hero, eight decades later, disturbs and frightens. The latest act is just one in a series of barbaric acts in "liberated Nikšić" in which Ljubo is loved, but also attacked.
Mirko Ilić (57) from this city was sentenced to ten months in prison for grossly violating the monument to Čupić in the central city square. Ilić, let's recall, urinated on the monument in the evening, to the horror of passers-by who filmed him.
Montenegrin citizens, with protest marches in several cities, condemned the intention to humiliate Čupić, anti-fascism and the libertarian spirit of this country, which live through symbols such as the hero from Nikšić's corso.
