Milatović received candidates for the director of the RTCG: Competent institutions should urgently review the claims about the illegal election of the director general of the Public Service

The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, received the participants in the competition for the general director of the Public Service who applied to this institution: Sabrija Vulić, Andrijan Kadija, Srđan Čović, Snežana Burzan, Vladimir Maraš, Slaven Knezović and Žarko Božović, his Information Service announced. .
They informed President Milatović about the events at the recently concluded competition for the election of the General Director of Radio Television of Montenegro.
"Taking into account the importance of the Public Service as a good of general importance, I call on the competent institutions to, in accordance with their powers, urgently review the validity of the claims related to the illegal election of the general director of RTCG, Boris Raonic, as well as the non-compliance with final court decisions in earlier cases of his election", President Milatović said.
He recalled that in June of this year, he reinstated the Law on the National Public Broadcaster, which reduces the criteria for selecting the director of RTCG from a valid 10 to 5 years of work experience, considering that this solution ignores the importance of the Public Service and calls into question its editorial independence .
"The public service must be free from political influence, objective and transparent, which is not the case today. Therefore, it is important for the state to show its strength and bring the numerous affairs related to the election of the RTCG leadership to justice," said President Milatović.
The candidates for general director of RTCG pointed out that they believe that an opponent was elected who does not meet the legal requirements, and that the institutions of the system are not doing their job, as evidenced by the unenforced court decisions on the illegal election of the current director Boris Raonic, according to the announcement.
"They announced that with such election procedures, scandals and violations of legal norms, the Public Service loses its credibility and does not fulfill the basic function of providing truthful information and working in the interest of all citizens of Montenegro, and that for a country that wants to follow the path of European and NATO integration, such legal They also said that the rule of law must not be a "dead letter", but that laws must be applied.
