The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, said that he did not see Aleksandar Vučić's statement "that Montenegro will respond on the spot with what it deserves, and that they do not know how to form a coalition", which Vučić said earlier today, before arriving in Tivat.
- I did not see that statement, we were in a meeting. Vučić was invited to attend, but he did not do so, but he will be at the working lunch. Serbia actively participated in the joint voting of the resolution. It's true, like beauty in the eye of the beholder, and while I'm president I'm sending good neighborly messages. I believe that we must build bridges and I would call on all leaders to focus on building bridges. I think this is a responsible policy and one that citizens expect - said Milatović.
He called on "all leaders to make statements that should be measured and appropriate and that are based on mutual appreciation and respect in order to realize the European future."
- Montenegro's policy is clear, and Montenegro, as a success story, must be the next member of the EU and we can do that in 2028, and we have the biggest support from Slovenia and Croatia, and together we can be an example for other countries - he said.
Asked how he perceives the words of Vučić, that "they don't know how to form a coalition" and whether this affects the formation of the government, Milatović says that "the statements of all of us should be such that we try not to present domestic politics beyond the borders of our countries".
- I don't do that and I expect others not to do that - he said.
We remind you that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said today in Hamburg that Serbia is the main subject of all attacks in Montenegro and that Podgorica will respond on the spot "what it deserves".
After participating in the panel at the Hamburg Conference on Sustainability, he said in an address to the media that in Montenegro "they don't know how to form a coalition".
"That's why some people think that they can make a living over Serbia and that they still have the right to preach to us," said the President of Serbia.
"You will get the answer you deserve, on the spot, because I would not talk about it from here in Hamburg," said Vučić, who after visiting Germany is traveling to Tivat, where he is participating in the Brdo Brijun Leaders' Summit.
