The session of the Council for Defense and Security will be convened when the conditions are met, said the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
Milatović also said that presenting information from the sessions of the Council for Defense and Security undermines the reputation of the Army and the Council.
"And in this way, those individuals exclude themselves from the work of the Council in the future," he said at a press conference in Cetinje, after meetings with his Romanian colleague Kalus Johannis.
He says that at the Council session, he called for the ball to be dropped and for them to treat important topics responsibly and professionally.
When asked by Antena M if he was aware of the possible participation of the Montenegrin Army in the NATO mission to support Ukraine at the Council session, and if he expected that decision to be adopted, President Milatović said that the decision had not yet been discussed at the Council.
"That decision has not been considered, it is a matter for the Ministry of Defense and the Government, and when the proposal comes I will make a clear decision about it," Milatović said.
In response to a journalist's question about vacant positions in our diplomatic missions, he appealed for the Government to nominate an ambassador to NATO as soon as possible.
"You know that Montenegro has been without an ambassador in NATO for more than a year. This is one of the appeals of our strategic partners - to elect a new ambassador," Milatović said.
The President of the Republic of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, is on his first official visit since the restoration of Montenegro's independence.
"I thank Johannis for strongly supporting Montenegro's entry into NATO," said Jakov Milatović.
"I am glad to be in Cetinje today, a powerful symbol of spirituality, but also the courage of the Montenegrin people," said Johanis.
"Romania will continue to firmly support the EU enlargement process to partners from the Western Balkans. This policy is precisely the biggest investment in the stability and democratic consolidation of Europe. Montenegro has taken important steps and I congratulate you on your determination," said Iohannis.
Our region needs strong states with solid democracies, said Johannis.
At the press conference, President Milatović apologized to RTCG journalist Aleksandra Jovančević "if his reaction to her in the previous press conference was inappropriate".
He said that there was no relation to her personally, but to "regression in the editorial policy of the Public Service".
