It doesn't occur to me to rejoice that we haven't closed all 4 chapters because as an opposition member I am doing my best for Montenegro to fulfill its obligations on the EU path as soon as possible, said SD MP Boris Mugoša.
"The current majority is to blame for not closing Chapter 31 and the slowdown in the dynamics of our EU integration path, and there is no room for any further explanations.
The policy of compromise with values and relativizing retrograde tendencies for the sake of preserving seats in power will not bring us into the EU, on the contrary; if you said that Montenegro would close 10 chapters this year, and until recently you were convincing us that closing 4 was certain, and now it is clear that these are three chapters, then responsibility must be taken for not fulfilling the promise," Mugoša said.
As he states, the story that they previously closed "only" 3 chapters in 8 years of negotiations and now 3 chapters have been closed in a year is a daily political manipulation for several reasons:
1. first, chapters had to be opened in order to start closing them, so it is logical that each new government will have a simpler dynamic because the chapters are now only being closed;
2. many chapters have been almost ready for closure for a long time, but this was hindered by the appointments in the judiciary that took place this year due to the constructiveness of the opposition; before 2020, a significant part of the opposition was destructive and did not want to contribute to these appointments;
"For the umpteenth time, I say that a majority constituted in this way cannot bring Montenegro into the EU and that its recomposition on a truly pro-European platform is needed. In the final phase of EU integration, political or ideological improvisations are not allowed. Therefore, it is necessary for the aforementioned recomposition of government to take place in 2025 so that we are truly in a position to become the next EU member by 2028," concluded Mugoša.
