New Members of DPS Presidency Elected, Živković Says: The Goal is to Return DPS to Power, We Expect a Convincing Victory in Nikšić

The Main Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) has elected a new composition of the Presidency.

The members of the Presidency are: Nermin Abdić, Nikola Milović, Jugoslav Jakić, Nikola Rakočević, Oskar Huter, Predrag Smolović, Mladen Đuričić, Alen Balić, and Srđan Mašović.

The Presidency also includes the following ex officio members: party president Danijel Živković, vice-presidents Ivan Vuković, Jevto Eraković, Abaz Dizdarević, and Aleksandra Vuković Kuč, general secretary Aleksandar Bogdanović, and the head of the parliamentary club, Andrija Nikolić.

As announced by DPS President Danijel Živković, the DPS Presidency is an operational body that will contribute fully to the main goal, which is to restore voter trust and return DPS to power.

"It is not an easy task to select a team, and the primary goal is for this body to be operational. Zoran Pažin, Nikola Janović, and Predrag Bošković held important roles in the past, and now they will contribute from different positions—there’s no mystification here. I am confident that in the future, we will continue to use the full potential of DPS personnel and achieve our goal," Živković said, adding that the number of members in the Presidency would increase further in the coming period.

Živković told reporters that they expect a convincing victory in Nikšić.

"I am confident that it could exceed 40 percent support from the electorate. Those who are in power today do not deserve the public's support, and the public has shown that they do not want Marko Kovačević as the mayor of the municipality. I am sure that there will be certain personnel changes. As for double voters, you know that we raised this issue ahead of the Podgorica elections—not based on projections and abstractions, but on concrete data, and we informed the Police Administration about it. The competent prosecutor’s office assessed that there were no elements of criminal responsibility, but that does not mean we will not continue to deepen this topic because we have voters who, depending on the need, vote where necessary," Živković said.

Asked if he would return to the parliamentary benches, Živković said that this depends on the government, not the opposition.

"We have had several discussions on the constitutional crisis. Of course, opposition action through Parliament is necessary, but we must not allow the parliamentary majority to act arrogantly, to violate the Constitution and regulations, and to trample on the legal order. We will see what the outcome of the talks will be," Živković said.

Živković emphasized that a new meeting between the government and the opposition is expected at the beginning of the next week.

The first session of the DPS Presidency in its new composition will be held after the completion of the Main Board's session.
