Nikolić: PES is silent while Knežević and Mandić order the deterioration of relations with Kosovo

AUTHOR: M.J.
The political instruction to the president of the Montenegrin parliamentary delegation in the Council of Europe, Maja Vukićević, to vote against the admission of Kosovo to that international organization, is contrary to the defined foreign policy interests of Montenegro and is part of the strategy of deliberately worsening good-neighborly relations, which is inspired by the parties of the parliamentary majority under the control of Milan Knežević and Andrija Mandić. - underscored the head of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) deputies club Andrija Nikolić.
The announcement that Montenegro, which has officially recognized Kosovo as a state, will depart from the principle of acting accordingly in international politics, according to Nikolić, speaks of the structural error of the Montenegrin government and its problematic character.
That is why, since the announced vote of Mrs. Vukićević in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the loud silence of the Europe Now Movement, in which they are afraid of contradicting the parties of Milan Knežević and Andrija Mandić, which unfortunately shows that they are interested in the EU, to the extent that it does not threaten their positions in power - he underlined.
In addition, it indicates that the announced procedure of Knežević's MP is not only bad for Montenegro, but that it is counterproductive for both Serbs and minorities living in Kosovo.
There are a large number of issues related to democracy and human rights, which the Kosovo authorities under the umbrella of the Council of Europe will have to solve more effectively - added Nikolić.
He also points out that Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe would enable all citizens of Kosovo, and therefore the Serbs living there, to have a greater degree of protection of their rights, precisely before the European Court of Human Rights.
Therefore, the decision of a part of the parliamentary majority, to work contrary to the defined foreign policy of their country, practically has bad consequences for the Serbs in Kosovo, which contradicts what the opponents of Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe say - concluded Nikolić.
