Ombudsperson: The examination procedure on the alleged discrimination is in progress, a request for a statement was sent to Raonic

The institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro announced that, on its own initiative, and based on information from the media, a case was formed to investigate possible discrimination regarding the use of the Iotized version of the Montenegrin language on the Public Service. The examination procedure is ongoing, and the request for a statement has been sent to the general director of RTCG, Boris Raonić, said the institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms, responding to yesterday's letter from a group of employees of Radio and Television of Montenegro.
Since the identity of the journalist who pointed out the problem was not known at the time of the creation of the case, and considering that the context of the case may also concern others who use or intend to use the edited version, in this case, according to the institution of the Defender, it was not necessary ask for consent for the procedure.
The Ombudsman reminds that the creation of the case was also discussed in the Parliament of Montenegro, when it was confirmed by the Deputy Protector, which was reported by several media.
In connection with the statements of the group of RTCG employees about labor-legal relations, they remind that this is the typical competence of the inspection services, whose actions we will monitor if necessary.
The human rights defender claims that they have no complaints from the RTCG on other grounds that have not been processed.
Regarding the participation in the "kick off" conference, whose name and character are also problematic, they note that it is a regional project, financed by the EU, and implemented by an organization recognized for its engagement in the field of prevention and protection of torture, which is and the goal of the project.
The Protector had no qualms about participating in the gathering that talks about topics from our mandate and supporting the initiative whose goal is to strengthen human rights, as in all previous occasions at the invitation of any civil sector organization, especially through a project supported by renowned international organizations. The attempt to manipulate and connect with Nazi propaganda is a matter of "good taste" of individuals and is not for further comment - say the institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro.
