Opposition with Ambassadors Quinte and Pope: Certain moves by the ruling majority are a warning sign

AUTHOR: M.J.
The leaders of the opposition parties met today with the ambassadors of the Quinte countries and the EU delegation in Montenegro.
In front of the opposition, the meeting was attended by DPS president Danijel Živković, SD president Damir Šehović, DUA president Mehmed Zenka, HGI president Adrijan Vuksanović, LP president Vatroslav Belan and general secretary of DPS Aleksandar Bogdanović.
On behalf of the Quinte countries, the interlocutors were the Head of the EU Delegation in Montenegro, Ambassador Oana Kristina Popa, US Ambassador Judy Reising Reinke, Great Britain Ambassador Don McCann, Italian Ambassador Andreana Marsella, French Ambassador Anne-Marie Maske and Chargé d'Affaires of the German Embassy Ralf Reusch.
During the conversation, the representatives of the international community were introduced to the views of the opposition on the current political situation, with a special emphasis on the work of the parliamentary majority and the announced reconstruction of the Government.
Danijel Živković pointed out that the parliamentary majority does not lead the country through European integration, especially if one takes into account the announcement of the reconstruction of the Government with parties that have shown that they are opposed to European values by their actions so far.
According to the DPS, Živković specifically referred to certain moves by which the actors of the parliamentary majority undermine the civic character of Montenegro and added that this should be a warning sign to all those who advocate for the preservation of European values in Montenegro.
Živković assessed that political stability is continuously being undermined and added that the Democratic Party of Socialists will not allow the multi-ethnic and civic character of society to be jeopardized, as well as Montenegro's further progress towards the European Union.
Damir Šehović pointed out that the intention of certain structures is to gradually change the civic character of Montenegro and added that there is a great danger that they will succeed in this intention if those political subjects have the opportunity and find themselves in the future executive power.
Mehmed Zenka, from the position of the representative of less numerous nations, pointed out the importance of representing the civilizational values by which Montenegro was recognizable, and added that due to the preservation of such values, he did not and would not agree to a partnership with parties that are opposed to those values.
Adrijan Vuksanović expressed agreement in his assessment that less numerous peoples should not give up their ideological and political principles, and added that it is precisely the ideological division of the current government that endangers the civic character of Montenegro.
Vatroslav Belan pointed out the dangers of inflow and influence from third parties and concluded that Montenegro must not back down in the face of retrograde ideas that see Montenegro as a suitable ground for fulfilling their interests.
Leaders of the parliamentary opposition assessed that in the first 100 days of the Government's work, there was no essential progress of Montenegro in the process of EU integration, bearing in mind that the European agenda is not only the elimination of obligations but the improvement and construction of the European value system, which is continuously being violated by the parliamentary majority. .
The ambassadors thanked the opposition leaders for their detailed views and noted their concern that in the context of regional and geopolitical events, it is necessary to continuously monitor the political processes in Montenegro, in order not to allow the influence of third parties to prevail over the interests of the European Union agenda. Representatives of the diplomatic corps also reiterated their unchanged position that they expect the Government and political subjects to be in line with European and Euro-Atlantic values, because only in this way can Montenegro be a reliable partner of the Quinte countries and the European Union, according to the DPS.
