By order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, Nemanja Katnić and Petar Ivanović, as well as Milutin Simović, were arrested this morning, Podgorica media report.
Ivanović, who was also a former advisor to the president, was arrested by order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) in a house in Doljani.
Simović was also the long-time mayor of Nikšić.
Criminal charges have also been filed against Budimir Mugoša.
"On the order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, the Special Police Department deprived four persons of their liberty: P.I. and M.S., former Ministers of Agriculture and Rural Development, N.K., former State Secretary at the then Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and V.P., then Head of the Finance, Accounting and Public Procurement Service of the Ministry, and filed a criminal complaint against them, as well as against: B.M., former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed three extended criminal offenses of abuse of official position and two criminal offenses of abuse of official position.
The subject of the criminal complaint and proceedings is the allocation of funds to certain non-governmental organizations, in the period from April 2014 to July 2019, contrary to the Regulation on the conditions, manner and dynamics of implementing agrarian policy measures - Agrobudget for specific years, which provided benefits to non-governmental organizations, and caused damage to the injured party Montenegro in the amount of over 300,000 euros.
The police will take the suspects for questioning within the legal deadline," the Special State Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.
As a reminder, former State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Nemanja Katnić was arrested this morning on the orders of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT).
Katnić was also arrested by officers of the Special Police Department (SPO).
The arrested Katnić was State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development from January 2013 to October 2017, at a time when the ministers were Petar Ivanović, briefly Budimir Mugoša and later Milutin Simović.
