Pisonero: Amendments to the Prosecution Act do not respect our recommendations

The European Commission's Portparolka Commission Ana Pisonero said that the draft amendments to the State Prosecutor's Office did not respect the recommendations of the European Commission and the Venetian Commission

"The EU calls for parliament to review this vote and instead the preliminary appointment of the permanent Supreme State Prosecutor in accordance with the Constitution of Montenegro," Pisonero told Pobjeda.

Pisonero says that Montenegro must strengthen the independence, responsibility and professionalism of the judiciary in order to improve the approach process, which the citizens of Montenegro has been looking for several times.

The valid law provides that the acting prosecutor of the Supreme State Prosecutor is elected for six months, and that the same person may remain in that position for another half year if the Supreme Prosecutor is not elected within a full term within that period.
