Politics must not be a competition in the accumulation of power and the skill of manipulation

All that is happening these days shows that we need a completely new political, but not only political, culture. For too long, our political scene has been a gladiatorial arena where actors fight for supremacy over life and death. That's not politics. Politics is not a competition to accumulate power. Politics is not the art of manipulation. Politics is not a training ground for "creative" subterfuges, cynical quips and infantile ambitions. What we are watching these days is not politics, said the president of the Croatian Civic Initiative (HGI) Adrijan Vuksanović.
Politics is something completely different: politics is something vital, something noble. Politics is an awareness of the welfare of the community. Politics is joint action for the benefit of each individual. Politics is applied ethics. Politics is philanthropy in action - pointed out Vuksanović.
According to him, politics has become a continuous showdown between the irresponsible and the immature does not change the meaning of politics.
It's just an indication of immaturity. We have to grow up and get serious as soon as possible. We especially appeal to our young colleagues not to use harsh and toxic words. If we at HGI are wondering, the use of certain overly strong words in the public field should be treated as an act of public harassment in the future. We call on all actors from the entire political spectrum to understand the responsibility that lies before them and to do everything to bring the election process to a regular end, after which, we hope, citizens and institutions will appropriately evaluate the actions of each of us - concluded Vuksanović.
