After the protest in Cetinje, a protest was organized in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs building in Podgorica at 7:30 PM, where citizens paid tribute to those killed in Cetinje with 12 minutes of silence and demanded the dismissal of top security officials.
The citizens gathered in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are holding banners saying: "When blood falls on toys, anger reigns", "The collapse of the system is a danger to everyone", "Bečić, Šaranović, Šćepanović, come slowly", "Sadness, revolt, anger, there is no going back".
The citizens also chanted and demanded their resignations, and at one point they chanted "Vučić-Bečić". Watch the video links below:
The organizers of the protest are an informal group of students "Kamo sjutra", who said that they are not backed by any political party and that this is not a political, but a civic gathering. They recently published a list of demands for the leaders of the security sector.
The first demand is for the resignation of the Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović and the Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Aleksa Bečić.
"The resignation is a moral act and a symbolic gesture that restores citizens' trust in the government and shows readiness to take responsibility," the organizers of the protest say.
They say that the inability to ensure the safety of citizens and the failure to take appropriate measures are the reason why they are demanding responsibility for the loss of life.
"It is necessary that in the future the security sector is not a party prey but a department led by experts," the explanation of the request states.
Among the key demands of those gathered in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the request for the demilitarization of society, i.e. the confiscation and destruction of illegal and hidden weapons.
They also demand a revision of the issued permits for the possession of weapons through police checks of those who own weapons and through serious, not just formal, psychiatric and other medical and psychological examinations on an annual basis.
The list of demands also includes the declaration of a moratorium on the issuance of permits for the possession of weapons until the Law on Weapons is amended, the disabling of the legal purchase of weapons without a prior permit for the possession of weapons, as well as tightening the conditions for the possession of hunting weapons and stronger control of shooting clubs that issue membership cards and fictitious certificates to citizens just to more easily obtain a permit to carry weapons.
