Yesterday, the 33rd anniversary of the formation of the Morinj camp was marked in Boka Kotorska. On this occasion, we received a comment on the relations between the two countries from the former Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Croatia, Vesna Pusić.
She said that she does not think that the wars of the 1990s continue to burden the relations between Croatia and Montenegro, and that these issues have become history due to the politics that were conducted after the 1990s, but, as she says, the pro-Russian and pro-Serbian currents in Montenegro are trying to worsen relations between Montenegro and Croatia.
"That issue has long since gone down in history, primarily due to the political moves of the then presidents Mesić and Đukanović. However, pro-Serbian and pro-Russian politicians in Montenegro are trying to use everything they can remember, including finished stories from the past, in order not to worsen and strain relations Montenegro and Croatia. I think this is because they, and especially their principals, associate good relations with Croatia with Montenegro's entry into NATO and, potentially, entry into the EU," Pusić said.
Pusić points out that Croatia ignores the behavior of the current government in Montenegro in every possible way.
"Since this should be prevented in their opinion, they are using everything they can to destroy Montenegro's relations with the only neighbor that has already helped for NATO, and possibly for the EU as well. At the beginning, Croatia reacted diplomatically with restraint, and now it mostly ignores it , because it is quite clear what this is about," Pusić told Antena M.
