Reaction of the media group: We will no longer tolerate discrimination at the government's press conferences. Our portal provides full support to discriminated colleagues in Montenegro

AUTHOR: M.J. GDNUS
The press conference of European Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajić was another example of discrimination against journalists from media companies that have a critical attitude towards the government and that have not been owned by foreign capital.
"We believe that the public's memory of the events during the Brdo Brioni Process, when the journalists of our newspapers had to literally fight for the microphone and the opportunity to ask a question, and to be exposed to various inconveniences in the process and post festum, should not be particularly refreshed.
In order to protect our journalists and media houses from this kind of discrimination and disrespect, if we do not get guarantees that this kind of relationship will end, we have decided not to burden press conferences of government representatives and EU officials with our presence in the future. Let these meetings of friends pass without fear of awkward questions, and we will find a way to properly inform our audience about the content of those performances for the public.
Of course, we will be pleased with any possible form of guild solidarity and demonstration of professional and human self-respect. Therefore, we hope that the list of newspapers that sign this statement is not final," states the response signed by the editorial offices of Antena M, ETV, E portal, Standard and Mportal.
The portal German daily new US provides full support to discriminated colleagues from Montenegrin newsrooms and strongly condemns the continuous suppression of media freedom by the Government and the parliamentary majority in Montenegro.
The absence of a reaction from the head of the European Commission, who with such a reaction trampled on one of the most important value postulates on which the EU rests, is additionally worrying, namely freedom of speech.
As a sign of support for our colleagues, our portal will not publish the details of the meeting between Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spaić and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
In the coming period, we will continue to point out the violation of basic human rights, freedom of speech and revanchism and discrimination against Montenegrins by the current pro-Serbian and pro-Russian authorities in Montenegro. In the coming period, we will also focus on the hypocrisy of European officials and their double standards and political dishonesty with a special emphasis on the members of the European Commission and former President Ursula von der Leyen.
