Same-sex partners have the same rights as married spouses

At today's session, the Government approved the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Obligations.
Drafting of the Draft Law, as announced by the Government, was started due to the need to harmonize it with the Law on Life Partnership of Persons of the Same Sex.
The proposal envisages that the court can award partners in the union of persons of the same sex, as well as members of the immediate family, fair compensation for mental pain in the event of death or severe disability, which occurred as a result of the violation of personal rights - the announcement states.
It is added that the same-sex partner is recognized in the same way as the debtor's spouse when the debtor's partner causes damage to the creditor.
Due to the closeness of the partners' relationship, the statute of limitations does not run between them while their union lasts. Partners from the union of persons of the same sex are recognized in the event of termination or revocation of gift contracts, contracts of assignment, distribution of property for life, contracts of lifetime support and contracts of insurance in the same way as married spouses - the Government states.
