Sehovic in Washington: Alliance with the USA is a priority, Montenegro will quickly return to the track of civilization

Democracy, respect for human rights, but also cooperation with the goal of preserving peace and collective security have no alternative, and Montenegro, as a small country with a great history, must provide an important contribution to all these processes, for which the preservation of a permanent alliance with the United States of America, which with law must be treated as one of the most important foreign policy priorities, said the president of the Social Democrats of Montenegro, Dr. Damir Sehovic, on the last day of his visit to Washington.
He added that in the numerous contacts they had as members of the delegation with the representatives of the US Congress and the Senate, as well as with the guests at the Prayer Breakfast, they regularly expressed their satisfaction with the fact that Montenegro, by joining the NATO alliance, expressed a clear intention to permanently bind itself as a society to the western system of democratic values.
"But we also shared considerable concern over the fact that after the political changes of 2020, precisely these Euro-Atlantic values are fundamentally called into question, with a constant effort to replace the correctly set ideological framework in the country with its antipode," Sehovic pointed out.
The SD leader expressed his firm belief and strong expectation that after the already announced presidential and expected soon parliamentary elections, our country will quickly return to the European, civic, or civilizational track, from which it unfortunately deviated in the previous two and a half years.
"The visit to Washington strengthened our belief that everyone who bases their policy on such a progressive program platform will have the full support of the USA, but also of all other partner countries," Sehovic concluded.
In Washington, Sehovic attended the 71st Prayer Breakfast, which this year brought together political leaders from around 90 countries around the world and was hosted by US President Joe Biden.
