Sijarto: We plan to close at least seven chapters with Montenegro

The Head of Diplomacy of Hungary, Peter Szijarto, announced that during the presidency of the EU, efforts will be made by his country to speed up the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union.

In this sense, Sijarto, speaking at the conference of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), said that during the six-month presidency, Hungary plans to close at least seven chapters in the negotiations with Montenegro.

- During the EU presidency, which begins on July 1, Hungary will open new chapters in accession negotiations with Serbia and hold intergovernmental meetings with all five candidates for membership from the Western Balkans, the Hungarian foreign minister said in Paris.

He adds that the first chapters with Albania will be opened, as well as the negotiation framework with Bosnia and Herzegovina will be adopted, which is the first step towards the opening of negotiations.

Sijarto said that the integration of the WB countries into the EU is the economic, political and security interest of Hungary.
