The Committee did not support the Bill on the Prohibition of Fascist Organizations

The Committee for the Political System and the Judiciary did not support the Bill on the Prohibition of Fascist and Military Nationalist Organizations and the Use of Their Symbols, proposed by Liberal Party President Andrija Popović. Three deputies voted for the proposal, while five of them abstained.
The proposer of the law and leader of the Liberal Party, Andrija Popović, said at the beginning of the session that we are obliged to preserve the value of anti-fascism.
"That is why the bill on the banning of fascist, neo-fascist and military nationalist organizations and the use of their symbols was created - with the aim of preventing the incitement of national, racial or religious hatred and intolerance among citizens in Montenegro," said Popović.
He explained that the law regulates the prohibition of manifestations highlighting symbols or features or any other activity of fascist organizations, associations and individuals that in any way violate the constitutional rights or freedoms of citizens.
Democratic Front (DF) MP Dragan Bojović believes that the legal solution is imprecisely formulated.
"Because part of neo-Nazi and Nazi organizations are not formulated clearly enough, we know that Nazism represents an even more extreme form of ideology compared to fascist ideology," said Bojović.
Bojović asked PopovićA about his attitude towards Sekula Drljević or Krsto Popović.
"I want you to tell me your position regarding the statements made by the highest officials of the former regime, where an entire national community was threatened with expulsion," Bojović said.
He assessed that this law targets one ethnic community and group.
If we want to move towards reconciliation, we must strive to resolve our divisions historically, and then to suppress, of course, all forms of extremist activities that would harm any community - but not by eliminating or highlighting one community, and declaring all others fascists - he said. is Bojović.
"If such a bill were to be adopted, it would serve as a pamphlet for dealing with political dissenters. We should strive for reconciliation, not division," said Bojović.
Popović replied that the goal of the law is reconciliation
"The goal of the law is to prevent outbursts of fascism from now on," said Popović.
MP Branka Bošnjak also agreed that this law encourages divisions.
Boris Mugoša from SD said that this proposal has been in the procedure for two years, and that during that time they have not received an opinion.
"If we look for a hair in an egg, we will always find it. I think, however, that this law is a relation to universal values, and is not concerned with drawing targets for anyone," said Mugoša. He stated that the negativity of the actions of some organizations was definitely confirmed.
I'm sorry that we keep looking for a hair in each other's egg. I deeply believe that this proposal is a valuable relationship, aimed at relieving these new generations of the ghosts of the past", added Mugoša.
