The eternal roar of Sutjeska

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the legendary battle on Sutjeska, hundreds of anti-fascists from all Montenegrin municipalities attended today the memorial academy for the battle that decided the further course of the fight and victory over fascism.
A joint delegation of anti-fascists from the former Yugoslav republics laid a wreath at the monument to the fallen fighters, which included the vice-presidents of the Union of National Liberation War Fighters and Anti-Fascists of Montenegro, Stevan Radunović and Milojica Dakić, and the general secretary of our Union, Dragan Mitov Đurović.
In the presence of anti-fascists from almost all former republics, in his welcoming speech, the president of the anti-fascists of Croatia, Franjo Habulin, pointed out that "we are not here just to pay tribute to the heroes of Sutjeska, but not to allow the national liberation struggle to be forgotten and falsified and to remain silent about it."
We are not here to count ourselves on any basis, neither did the partisans, we are here to continue the fight for their ideals, for which they laid down their lives, all in their countries, with the memory of the country created by the best - concluded Habulin.
On behalf of the host, the anti-fascist president of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sead Đulić, reminded that our ancestors won their battle with weapons and paid with their lives.
Our battle against fascism, which is growing stronger again, is won by rebelling against all injustice, against defeated ideologies, which once again sow the seeds of hatred between peoples. Enough of war, the peoples must rebel against immature politicians, we must loudly again say Death to fascism, freedom to the people - emphasized Đulić.
The last surviving member of the First Dalmatian Brigade, Ivo Karamatić, also attended the celebration of the great jubilee today.
Delegations of the Association of NOR fighters and anti-fascists of Montenegro laid wreaths on the monuments to the famous commander Sava Kovačević, then to the unforgettable heroes from Ljubina's grave and on Popova most, where the Fourth Montenegrin Proletarian National Liberation Brigade was formed.
In the artistic part of the program, at a high professional level, the guests were delighted with an exceptional performance by the KIC POP HOR from Podgorica, whose conductor is Zoja Đurović, and whose artistic director is Snežana Burzan-Vuksanović. The repertoire included a mix of partisan, anti-fascist songs that resonated strongly and emotionally in the Valley of Heroes, among hundreds of freedom-loving, mostly Montenegrin, flags.
The Battle of Sutjeska in May and June 1943 was the decisive battle of the Fifth Enemy Offensive, in which the Yugoslav partisans made a breakthrough from the Axis encirclement, defeating, with huge losses, the German forces near the Sutjeska River in southeastern Bosnia. The enemy was many times more numerous, equipped with good equipment , weapons and ammunition, the German units were specially trained to fight in mountainous terrain. NOVJ units were only supplied with light infantry weapons, and ammunition and other resources were stolen from the enemy R.U.-I.
