The meeting is over, the MPs are close to an agreement on the judges of the Constitutional Court

The members of the Constitutional Committee and the heads of parliamentary clubs finished the negotiations on candidates for judges of the Constitutional Court in Villa "Gorica". The goal of the meeting was to reach an agreement on the candidates who would receive the necessary support in the parliament.
According to Pobjeda's unofficial information, significant progress was made at the meeting and an agreement was reached on the three candidates in principle.
An agreement is also expected regarding the fourth candidate from minority nations
The President of the Assembly Danijela Đurović was also present at the meeting.
Among the deputies present were Danijel Živković, Vesna Pavićević, Suzana Pribilović, Jovanka Laličić and Ljuiđ Škrelja from the Democratic Party of Socialists, deputies of the Civic Movement URA Suada Zoronjić and Miloš Konatar, deputy of the Social Democratic Party Draginja Vuksanović Stanković, deputy of the Social Democrats Ivan Brajović, deputy of FORCE Genci Nimanbegu, Boris Bogdanović from Democratic Montenegro came to the meeting, Dragan Ivanović from the Socialist People's Party and Branka Bošnjak and Jovanka Bogavac from the Democratic Front.
This is the sixth attempt to elect judges, after the previous ones failed.
The Constitutional Committee heard 26 candidates who applied to the public call for the election of four judges of the Constitutional Court.
Four candidates will be proposed, and the Montenegrin parliament will make the final decision with a two-thirds or three-fifths majority of the deputies.
At the last vote in the parliament, none of the four proposed candidates for judges of the Constitutional Court received the required majority, neither in the first nor in the second round of voting.
The Constitutional Court, out of a total of seven, has only three judges and since September of last year, it has not had a quorum for decision-making.
Judges of the Constitutional Court are elected by the Parliament of Montenegro for 12 years.
