The presence of ministers to mark the day of RS contrary to the position of Montenegro

The presence of the official of the Montenegrin government at the ceremony marking the Day of Republika Srpska (RS) is in sharp opposition to the position of Montenegro as NATO allies and aspirants for membership in the European Union (EU), according to the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Podgorica.

The ambassadors said they were "very disappointed" by the decision of the Ministers of Justice and Finance, Marko Kovac and Aleksandar Damjanovic to attend the celebration of the Republika Srpska Day, which was declared unconstitutional in 2015 by the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"The move has shown great disrespect for the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the Voice of America said from the Embassy.

They reminded that at the ceremony he was paid tribute to Russian President Vladimir Putin, adding that his war in Ukraine caused severe destruction and human suffering.

"The presence of the official of the Montenegrin Government at the event is sharply opposite to the position of Montenegro as NATO allies and aspirants for EU membership, and with the principles and values that share members of the European Community," they said from the Embassy.
