The Social Democrats will support Đukanović

The Social Democrats of Montenegro will support the candidacy of the current president of the state and the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Milo Đukanović, in the upcoming presidential elections as the candidate who has the best chance of winning, the Main Committee of that party decided at today's session.
They said that at no point did they observe the issue of candidates in the presidential elections from a narrow party perspective.
In the current political situation, when Montenegro is in a deep social, political, institutional, economic and every other crisis, we appreciate that there must be no room for party calculations on this issue, but that each party must be guided exclusively by higher, state interests. In this sense, the Social Democrats made a decision to support the candidate who has the most chances to win - said the SD.
The victory of the opposition candidate in the upcoming elections, according to their assessment, would mean not only a political victory - but the beginning of a turnaround from the anti-Montenegro, anti-European, anti-civilization policy that has taken precedence in Montenegro in the previous two and a half years.
It is of crucial importance that as many parties and organizations as possible stand unitedly with a common candidate and that we give the maximum for that candidate to win the presidential elections. The Social Democrats are the only political entity that was in the opposition in the previous two and a half years and successfully resisted all experiments that only brought harm to our homeland - the SD pointed out.
According to them, the decision to support Đukanović is a continuation of such a socially responsible policy and a policy that has only one goal - "the interest of the state of Montenegro and its citizens."
