Tomorrow at noon protest in front of the Constitutional Court, silent on discrimination by the Municipality of Nikšić

The Vice-President of the Liberal Party (LP) Jelena Marković invited citizens to join her in a protest in front of the Constitutional Court in Podgorica tomorrow, April 16 at 12 noon.

The reason for the protest was the initiative of liberals submitted earlier to the Constitutional Court of Montenegro on the constitutionality of Article 9 of the Statute of the Municipality of Nikšić, i.e. the addition of Article 9a, which is unconstitutional and which introduces the church celebration as the Day of the Municipality.

The initiative for consideration and repeal of that unconstitutional article was submitted on behalf of LP Marković on May 9, 2023, and a month ago she asked for urgency on this matter, but to date no response has been received from that institution.

- I invite my fellow councilors in the local parliament who voted against the Statute, and those who did not, if they subsequently realized that the Constitution was being violated, then all sovereignist parties, NGOs, civil activists, intellectuals, individuals who wholeheartedly support the rapid entry of Montenegro into the EU , FKCJ, Matica Montenegrin, Pen Center, journalists and all others who, since the "liberation" on August 30, have been on the verge of overthrowing the Constitution of Montenegro, to join us - said Marković.
