Varhelji: Montenegro should respect the decisions of the Venetian Commission, the necessary appointment of the judge of the Constitutional Court

The appointment of the judge of the Constitutional Court is necessary for the protection of the basic rights of citizens of Montenegro, the European Commissioner for the neighborhood and the expansion of the European Union (EU) Oliver Varhelji said on a tweed.

The EU supports that all political actors are to be preceded by an emergency measure to ensure the functionality of the Constitutional Court. In order to continue on her path to the European Union, Montenegro should respect the decisions of the Venetian commission - Varhelia said.

It is reminded that the Assembly of Montenegro did not succeed yesterday to choose the judge of the Constitutional Court, and the deputies re -voted the Law on the President of Montenegro. The Venetian Commission, in the opinion that was issued last week, recommended that the amendments to the Law on the President of Montenegro were not adopted because they would, in essence, represent a change in the Constitution, with a smaller (assembly) most of the prescribed.
