The Ministry of Culture and Media has tried to ensure that public services have support in order to be as independent as possible from political and any other influence, says Minister Tamara Vujović.
"We did this through the articles of the Law that state how members of the Council of Local Public Broadcasters will be elected, and how members of the Council of the National Public Broadcaster RTCG will be elected. I can tell you that in that part, when it comes to the selection of candidates from non-governmental organizations or professional associations, we have really tightened the criteria, so that the most important criterion for future members of the Council will be how expert they are in the field of media, informed and so on, how many projects they have worked on, and in the field of media, and there, especially when it comes to RTCG.
The Administrative Board of the Parliament of Montenegro will not have the decisive role it has had so far, in terms of interviewing and determining candidates who will go to the plenum, but it will be an administrative flow boiler, if I may put it that way, which will only state which non-governmental organizations are, which candidates have the best references to be candidates for members of the Council, based on strict criteria," Vujović emphasized in the show Na kraju dana, on Television E.
He believes that this is something that will contribute to independence public services, whether local or RTCG, precisely that strength and capacity of the Council members.
"Everything we know from the media, and it concerns the election of the RTCG director, and court rulings, I can appeal and underline that court rulings must be respected, and that I expect the judicial authorities, and all competent authorities to do their job and bring about final decisions, which everyone will then have to respect. It is not that we are hiding, and that we will not react, but the Law on RTCG is such that it provides autonomy in managing the national Public Service itself, precisely so that they would not censor us, and so that they would be as independent as possible," concluded Vujović.
