Vuković: Due to rotten compromises, Spajić pacifies Mandić and Knežević, withdraw the proposed resolution on Jasenovac

AUTHOR: M.J./POBJEDA
The MP of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Ivan Vuković assessed that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić is trying to pacify his partners - the leaders of the coalition "For the Future of Montenegro" Andrija Mandić and Milan Knežević with rotten political compromises and called on the Government to influence the withdrawal of the Proposed Resolution on the Genocide in Jasenovac from the parliamentary procedure.

- The current majority, instead of the state, follows the political interests of the regime of Aleksandar Vučić and therefore, one month after receiving the IBAR, proposes the adoption of a resolution that destroys good-neighborly relations with one of the member states of the European Union and calls into question the process of European integration - said Vuković on press conference, commenting on the submission to the parliamentary procedure of the Proposed Resolution on the Genocide in Jasenovac.

He said that Montenegro is the only candidate country that has a real chance to become a member of the European Union in the next few years.

Settlement of accounts within the majority
- For that to happen, all 27 member states must give the green light, including our neighboring, friendly country Croatia, which has been very vocal in promoting the idea of further EU expansion. What is the current ruling majority doing in this sense? He proposes the adoption of a resolution on the genocide in Jasenovac in order to prevent any form of revisionism in relation to the horrors that took place in that death camp. Have you heard anyone in Montenegro denying what happened in Jasenovac, relativizing the criminal nature of the Independent State of Croatia and the Nazi-fascist nature of the Ustasha ideology, questioning the systematic killing of Serbs, Jews, Roma and others? Those historical facts are accepted and no one argues with them - emphasizes Vuković.

He recalled that the Serbian Parliament twice refused to support a similar resolution, which, he says, is being served to Montenegro today because of rotten political compromises.

- It is clear that this serves to settle accounts within the ruling coalition, to the detriment of the state interests and the European perspective of Montenegro, i.e. it serves to ensure that Spajić and his Evropa Movement now gradually preserve political support to remain in power in Montenegro. It serves so that the exponents of the official policy in Belgrade, within the ruling majority, justify the fact that they continue to support the Government of Montenegro even after the announcement that our country will support the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly, which they previously characterized as an anti-Serb document - he emphasized is Vuković.

The resolution on Jasenovac, as he says, also serves to provoke an even harsher reaction from Croatia and stop Montenegro's path to the EU, thus confirming the story of Vučić from the Summit in Kotor that no country of the Western Balkans will enter the EU before Ukraine.

- If the Prime Minister and the members of his cabinet are sincere when they talk about Montenegro's entry into the EU as the most important task of our country and if they are aware of the consequences that the adoption of this document would cause, then we have every right to demand and expect that the Government will influence that withdraw this proposal from the parliamentary procedure. The Government of Montenegro must find a way to resist the influence of retrograde, destructive policies that are created outside the borders of our country - said Vuković.

"We wouldn't join a government like this even if someone paid us"
Commenting on Vučić's statement that the amendments to the resolution on Srebrenica are a "disgusting game and perfidious trick" by the Government of Montenegro, Vuković said that this is the best question for people in the executive branch.

- In the previous days, they proved to us and to the Montenegrin public that by submitting those amendments, they achieved extraordinary diplomatic success and managed to preserve good-neighborly relations with Serbia. Here we see what they look like and the attitude of the current regime in Belgrade towards what that diplomatic action was. We warned people from PES and the Government in the parliament - you must understand that the problem in the state relations between Montenegro and Serbia was not related to DPS and Milo Đukanović, but to the fact that the state policy at that time did not deviate from the course that was set in 2006. year and we did not want to make rotten compromises to the detriment of state interests - Vuković emphasized.

He reiterated that the Government must remain focused on state interests.

- We fought too many other people's battles throughout history. We in the opposition are completely of the opinion that everything the Government proposes and does, which is in the interest of European integration, will have our support. We are not interested in political profiteering, we would not enter this kind of government even if someone paid us. We are only interested in Montenegro not missing this opportunity because it may be the last when it comes to the process of European integration - Vuković concluded.
