"A CONSTITUTIONAL COUP was carried out in the Parliament of Montenegro tonight," said DPS Vice President Ivan Vuković.
Vuković also announced via social media that the opposition is leaving the Electoral Reform Committee as of tonight and is starting a new phase of the fight for democracy and Montenegro's European future.
"Although the Constitutional Court did not previously inform the Parliament that the conditions for the termination of the function of a judge of the Constitutional Court have been created (an obligation under Article 154 of the Constitution), the Constitutional Committee of the Parliament has made a decision to terminate the function of one judge of the Constitutional Court.
In this way, unprecedented in our democratic practice, the ruling majority in the Parliament has taken over the role of the Constitutional Court.
The opposition has made a decision tonight to leave the Electoral Reform Committee and begin a new phase of the fight for democracy and the European future of Montenegro, stated Vuković.
