Zeković on the tragedy in Cetinje: The police lied to the public, not a single elder was dismissed

The year since the massacre in Cetinje was not used to better prepare the state and society to respond to risky and crisis situations like the one we had on August 12 last year in Cetinje, civic activist Aleksandar Zeković said.
What is crucial is that there is a complete lack of political and professional responsibility, both at the level of the Government and at the level of the MUP, that is, the Police Directorate. It is known to the public that not a single police chief has been dismissed, which is even more discouraging when we talk about overall responsibility - none of them submitted or offered their responsibility and resignation. Everyone behaved extremely selfishly, stayed in the positions and functions they were in, and in the meantime they did almost nothing to improve and improve that service and improve the confidence of the citizens that maybe the reaction of the competent institutions would be better, faster and more efficient if such the events happened again - said Zeković for Gradska RTV.
He notes that there was a lack of responsibility at all levels.
Could it be that by inadequately coordinating those events, she endangered the lives of other police officers who were completely untrained to perform in those events. Was the Police Administration's communication with the public in those moments of high quality and appropriate... We know that it was not, the police lied to the public in those situations. That is unacceptable. When the institutions of the system do not tell the truth in those situations - it is devastating for the entire society - said the civil activist.
According to him, the state showed a special level of irresponsibility towards the citizens of Cetinje who survived an unprecedented tragedy.
On the other hand, what have we done to help the victims? What have we done to help those families? Where is the relief fund? If he could not receive regular support, so that others would not be allegedly discriminated against, and what kind of psychosocial support is that, what kind of support is there for further health care? Those people deserved it. They were victims of violence, and perhaps they are victims of violence because the state did not react in a quality, quick and efficient way. That is why these persons cannot be considered regular patients of the health system, on the contrary, they deserved much better and more reliable protection than the one they received, and they received almost nothing - concluded Zeković.
