"The peak of political, or whatever other stupidity you want, is what President Jakov Milatović did, what his councilors in the local parliament did, it seems to me, is unprecedented in the political life of Montenegro. There have been various seasonal phenomena on the political scene, there have been various leaders in the attempt, who did not know what to do with the votes and mandates they received, but this, it seems to me, is the most senseless waste of votes and councilor mandates, at least since I have been following politics," said Nikola Zirojević, a member of the Parliament of Montenegro and a representative of the European Union, in the show "At the End of the Day" on Television E.
The officials of the Movement for a Better Podgorica led by Jakov Milatović yesterday put an end to the Podgorica elections held in September, although it was easy to conclude from President Milatović's daily statements and posts on social media that he was closer to forming a coalition with the opposition, but that did not happen.
This is the height of political stupidity, believes Zirojević, that the government in the Capital is being overthrown with the opposition, from the position of that government, he points out, new local elections are being held, the budget is being exposed to huge expenses, and citizens are being tortured, he emphasizes, and then negotiations are being held with the same ones they toppled.
"The height of political, or whatever other stupidity you want, is what President Jakov Milatović did, what his councilors in the local parliament did, it seems to me, is unprecedented in the political life of Montenegro. There were various seasonal phenomena on the political scene, there were various leaders in the attempt, who did not know what to do with the votes and mandates they received, but this, it seems to me, is the most senseless waste of votes and councilor mandates, at least since I have been following politics, and I can say that I was also quite interested in the time when I was a child, since the introduction of more parliamentarism into the political system of Montenegro, I really think this is an incredible phenomenon," said Zirojević.
It was expected that the President of Montenegro would make an announcement via social media, Zirojević believes, even if he were to say through the post that his profile had been hacked in the previous period, Zirojević is ironic, and that at least in that way, as he says, he would get away with it.
"President Jakov Milatović has chosen to remain silent, says Zirojević, which is the best proof of political inexperience. It is simply incredible that for a period of time you have been posing as some kind of statesman in an attempt, that you, together with the opposition, defend the Constitution, not to mention the praises, the words that President Milatović had towards Luka Rakčević, who was the leader of their list in the local elections, to wait for Luka Rakčević to tell you today that you are a rag of PES and the Democratic Front, to wait for your councilors' club to be divided into four councilors who are entering the government, two councilors who are staying in the opposition, and that you, as the president of the state, as someone who would be most invited to comment on it, do not say a single word," Zirojević pointed out.
Since the scenes from Slavija Square in Belgrade were seen, says Zirojević, with tens of thousands of people, he reminds us, nervousness has increased among the ruling elites, as he says, and in Montenegro.
"They are fully aware that if there are changes in Belgrade, they will be left without strategic and financial support. And all this nervousness, caused by what is happening in our northern neighbor, has led them to strategically make some bad moves. I think that what they did in the previous period were bad moves, I think that the attempt to block the Constitutional Court was fortunately unsuccessful, a pretty bad move, and I think that they caused an institutional crisis, which resulted in the situation that it is today, in the most unnecessary way," he said.
I think that they do not know what to do with us, says Zirojević, who blocks their session in the parliament every day, and I think that Andrija Mandić did the only thing he could do, he saw that the nervousness was increased, he saw the scenes that took place one day before Christmas Eve and Christmas, according to the Gregorian calendar, when we had the expulsion of journalists from the plenary hall, when we had the most brutal swearing and insults against a female MP in the parliament, he decided not to allow that to happen again, and he closed the session.
"In addition, the PES MPs said just an hour before the closing of the session that the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Montenegro provide for measures of removal from the session, which will order to be maintained and the regular work of the plenary session to be enabled. They announced an hour before, practically, to translate it in a simpler way, that we would be thrown out of the plenary hall, and only an hour after that Andrija Mandić announced "...the session and said there is no session, no budget, no nothing," Zirojević concluded.
