Đukanović: Živković is a good choice that will rehabilitate trust, I will remain in DPS

The former leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Đukanović is convinced that the Main Committee made a good choice by appointing Danijel Živković as acting president. the head of that party.
Đukanović said that they respect the will of the citizens expressed in the presidential elections, stressing that they made a new move today.
We pulled back when I decided to resign after 25 years of managing a party that I am proud of. In order to be able to help Montenegro achieve what we strive for, we decided to make this change. The General Assembly accepted my decision to resign, and the decision to elect Danijel Živković, a former member of the Presidency and Head of the DPS Parliamentary Club, as president - emphasized Đukanović in his address to the public, after the Main Board of the DPS unanimously accepted his resignation and appointed Danijelo Živković as acting director. President Danijel Živković.
He said that he was proud that they gave birth to a new generation of people.
One of the most remarkable people is precisely Danijel Živković, and I am convinced that we have made a good choice and that we will help rehabilitate trust in our party - said Đukanović.
He also said that it is no small matter that they took 40 percent in the elections and from the position of the opposition, but that they are not satisfied with the result.
Đukanović said that the results of the presidential elections showed that Montenegro was swimming in the waters of Greater Serbian nationalism.
He pointed out that he understands that in the life of man and society there are possible cycles where some are better and some are worse.
But nothing wavers when it comes to Montenegrin orientation. We believe in the EU perspective. To be successful on this path, we must be successful in reaching relevance. We think that there is no more serious alternative to what DPS represents - said Đukanović.
In particular, Đukanović points out, at today's session of the General Assembly, there was a fruitful discussion on the topic of parliamentary elections.
We believe that we led Montenegro in the time when it was adopting new stocks based on value orientation - pointed out Đukanović.
When asked if it was a risky decision to leave the party now, Đukanović said that they assessed that it was wiser to make a change as soon as possible so that DPS would get a leader who will lead the party in the elections.
I have already said that I seriously consider every decision I make. You will remember that we postponed the holding of elections in the party so as not to jeopardize the preparation for the elections. In the meantime, we received an answer in the presidential elections - said Đukanović.
"My withdrawal is not late"
When asked about his political future, Đukanović replied that he remains in the DPS.
Of course, I will continue to be in DPS. The leadership arose as a result of some other circumstances, and my belonging to the party is belonging to values - he said with the message, that today they did not discuss how he would stay in the party.
These values are already a large part of the contemporary heritage of Montenegro, but we live in a time of retrograde ideas that are trying to shake civil politics. We cannot agree on whether it will be the EU or the Serbian world, whether it will be the Open Balkans or CEFTA. It's clear where we belong, it's just a question of how long it will take to reach the goal - said Đukanović.
It's too late, he says, to change, and even if he were younger, he says, he wouldn't do that.
I don't think my withdrawal is late. If we thought it should have been earlier, it would have been. We do not see a tragedy in this, but an attempt to act as responsible politicians - he stated.
The favorites, he says, are the new generation of politicians, and he is adamant about that.
I believe in that and I will say most honestly that I did not use my position as party president to suggest someone. I said that the only thing I am advocating is for it to be someone from the new generation - said Đukanović.
Đukanović also said that the deadline for internal party elections is three months from the parliamentary elections.
"Diversions within the party let the dream of competitors go"
Commenting on the presidential elections and his defeat, Đukanović points out that they were aware of the risks, but that the situation required them to use their strongest trump card.
When it comes to Duško Marković and his future, Đukanović said that there is nothing hidden.
He is a member of parliament, he was active in the campaign... All these whispers and whispering diversions about how the inside of the party almost broke the dream of our competitors. We will remain united - said Đukanović.
"We are not implementing reforms in order to be a partner of Uri and the SNP"
That the competitors suggest to the strongest party how it should reform is, Đukanović points out, for the "Believe it or not" collection. He also says that they are not implementing reforms to be a partner of Uri and the SNP, but because they think it should be done that way.
DPS is in continuous reform. Let them look at what DPS has done in terms of reform in the last 20 years, and what the others have done. Those who lost 20 elections are talking about the unreformed DPS. Those who have committed more crimes in two and a half years than the DPS in 20 are talking about the legal order. We don't need that stupidity anymore, etc. to listen, nor to comment - said Đukanović.
"We need to stop listening and commenting"
Commenting on Prime Minister Dritan Abazović's statement that the mandate of the current convocation of the Assembly will be terminated after the inauguration of the new President Jakov Milatović, and that his Decree is unconstitutional, Đukanović said that we should stop listening to and commenting on nonsense.
The decree can be questioned only by the Constitutional Court. We think that everything was done in a constitutional manner - said Đukanović.
