The letter that Milivoje Katnić sent to his family, which represents a kind of will, indicates his alarming health condition, which may result in death, said the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danijel Živković.
The man who held one of the most important state functions and who was a judge of the Court of Appeal for decades - and then the chief special prosecutor, who is well into his seventh decade of life, did not deserve this kind of treatment - Živković pointed out.
He emphasizes that he is aware that Katnic will not be helped by the address of the president, the "organized criminal group" as some of his persecutors call the Democratic Party of Socialists.
Nor do I expect that after this reaction, the prosecution will give up its obvious intention to detain Katnić, even at the cost of his life. Nevertheless, it is a human and personal obligation of all of us to raise our voices and point out the inhumane treatment and treatment that Katnić has while staying at UIKS. I know that his imprisonment was desired by many in Montenegro, especially those who were then targeted by the work of the prosecutor's office, which he managed, and there were quite a few of them. The public remembers that the former chief special prosecutor led a series of cases that resulted in the deprivation of freedom of numerous DPS officials. We have never commented on it - instead, by respecting the presumption of innocence, we have left the institutions to do their work. However, we cannot forget the announcements of Katnić's arrest by the then opposition and today's authorities, who swore that they would send him to Spuž as soon as the authorities got hold of him - he said.
According to him, this is obviously the price that Katnić is paying today.
The price of political changes which, in a fit of sick and angry revanchism, tries to judge and judge all those who were prominent state officials before the political changes. In that calculation, however, it would be appropriate for all those who act according to this plan to keep in mind the complex history of Montenegro, which is full of mutual settlements and disputes and in which the principle of endless mutual quarrels was often acted upon. And society could fall into just such a mess after a series of incidents - the latest of which is the arrest of the director of the ASK, along with, as one member of the Government said, the circus that followed that act, since it became clear that the prosecution turned into direct investigators and lords of life and death - believes Živković.
The goal of the actions, as he assessed, is to threaten the dignity of the individual and to create a spectacle that is carried out in coordination with the privileged media, under the baton of politicians who triumphantly greet the act before it even happened, with the drama to which they should contribute frowning faces with phantoms.
By putting handcuffs on hands in Montenegro, the verdict is already written, the trial is unnecessary, we can read the explanation in the newspaper records. The texts of certain media and the statements of politicians in power draw a target, which the prosecution institutionally hits. The spiral of revanchism has started. Everyone who thinks differently, has their own integrity and does not succumb to pressure can expect the same scenario as those who are the target of judicial investigation by ambitious careerists. Just as the bearers of these processes can expect a response from those who are ready to defend their dignity with their lives - such as Milivoj Katnić - stated the president of DPS.
He called on all actors to return to respect for the rule of law and the principle of respecting the dignity of every individual.
It is humane, honorable and Montenegrin. Anything else would mean pushing the state into a drama that could have unfathomable consequences, because in Montenegro it was always known that a head without a face is worthless and that honor and reputation are defended by all means.
