INTERVIEW - MIĆO RADOVANOVIĆ - MUSIC LEGEND

AUTHOR: M. JAHOVIĆ
MUWN- When did you start playing music?
MR - I have been associated with music from a young age, which means that I started studying early and already knew how to play at the age of 15, but not very well, and through elementary school I studied music and theory, and an instrument, namely piano and piano accordion, and a little wind instruments, and that's first it was in my native Krupanj in Serbia and my teacher was Savo Terzić who later became a music editor at radio Šabac.
MUWN - Where did you have your first performance and how do you remember it?
MR-As a teenager, I continued my education in Sarajevo and since I already had the buttonhole from my father who played for a while, I finally decided to play the buttonhole, and then the excellent accordionist Jovica Petkovic gave me a lot of knowledge, and so in parallel with my schooling in the early seventies, I started playing with the group Mladi Sarajlije, in the most prominent place in Sarajevo, in Pionirska dolina, in the Hungarian restaurant.
MUWN- You have worked with many musicians, what is the collaboration with them like, especially those who have proven themselves in their work?
MR- In the Mendin bar at the very beginning of my career and work with the Mladi Sarajlije group, Mile Kitić joined us. We played in that group for 10 years, and at the beginning of the eighties I started working on recording records, the first records of Halid Bešlić, Halid Muslimović, Ferid Avdić, Mile Kitić, Hanka Paldum and on the albums Čežnja i.e. Crne kose Seja Pitić, Plava žena. Collaboration with composers Mijat Božović, Blagoj Košanin, Ibro Mangafić, Nećko Esadović, Nazif Gljiv followed. Thanks to that cooperation, I entered into record production, and at the same time started leading the youth orchestra of TV Sarajevo and worked with the music editor Erna Perić in U Đul-bašti, and participated in several festivals in Ilidža and a large number of television shows and concerts with popular singers.
MUWN - The job of a musician requires a lot of travel. Which ones are particularly memorable to you?
MR- I suddenly received an invitation to replace for 3 months Ljuba Kešelj, who spent time in the USA and only for 3 months. Mešutimi Ljubo doesn't come back and I'm staying in the USA, still doing music, and I've been active in music since 1986 until now, and I hope, God willing, for as long as I can. Collaboration with colleagues has always been great and I've never had any problems, and I've traveled halfway around the world with music and I'm satisfied.
MUWN- Have you recorded a duet song with any of your colleagues so far, are you planning to in the future and with whom would you like to?
MR- I know how to sing, but only for close company, and I had no intention of recording and singing, so I didn't do duets and I think I will remain an accordion player until the end.
MUWN- What are your plans for the next period?
MR-Plans for the next period are to play alive and well and as long as I can. In the USA, I work with everyone who came and stayed, and occasionally I also work with singers, big stars from the former Yugoslavia who come on tour in the USA. Recently, I worked with Ned Ukraden and Mile Kitić, and previously with Šerif Konjević, Osman Hadžić, Mitra Mirić, Miloš Bojanić, Šeki Turković, Jan, Stoja, Nina, and with everyone from the variety show.
MUWN-You also performed with Irena Jahović, our pop artist who lives and works in the USA, what was the experience of working with her like?
MR- We here in the USA are all like one family and we all work as needed and we socialize and respect each other. I do less recording, but I will single out one song I made about my father and it is directly intended for the father of the singer Irena Jahović, Dragan, who is no longer with us and the recording is wonderful. By the way, Irena and I work together and we have a lot of joint performances and working with her is wonderful, and she is a wonderful person and it is easy to work with her, and I am like that too, and with other colleagues I know that there have never been any problems and everything is perfect. I hereby greet all the people I know and don't know and I consider all people in the world my friends because I am sure that I have no enemies and that you are all alive, healthy and happy!
