RTCG opens a new chapter: Montenegro votes online for the first time at Eurovision

SOURCE: RTCG- AUTHOR: M.J. GDNUS

Montenegro is making a big step forward this year. RTCG viewers will be able to vote online for their favorites at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 for the first time. Quickly, simply and securely, votes from Montenegro will be directly registered in the official voting center based in Cologne, Germany.

The innovative system allows support for favorite songs to be given via mobile phones or computers, by visiting the official voting platform www.esc.vote, developed in cooperation with ONCE Germany, a long-time partner of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

"Following modern European practices, RTCG is further improving the viewer experience by introducing online voting. In this way, we enable our citizens to participate in Eurovision and support their favorites in an even simpler way," emphasized Vladana Vučinić, head of the Montenegrin delegation at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Greater interest, more involvement: What online voting brings

The experiences of public service broadcasters across Europe and ONCE show that online voting significantly increases audience interest and strengthens the connection with the competition, especially among the younger generation.

The online option is an additional way to vote – all citizens who have a credit card issued in Montenegro can cast their votes online via the secure ESC.vote platform. The rules are the same as for traditional voting: the same number of votes are allowed, the same terms and the same rules apply.

No additional costs: New option, same rules

The introduction of online voting does not bring any additional costs for the organizers, RTCG, or the citizens themselves. It is exclusively a new, practical option that facilitates participation in the selection of the winner of the most watched music event in Europe.

With this step, Montenegro joins the group of countries that offer viewers modern ways of voting, confirming RTCG's commitment to innovation and approximation to European standards.

Eurovision fans will be able to vote online during both semi-finals – on 13 and 15 May – as well as during the grand final on 17 May. However, the audience in Montenegro can only vote in the second semi-final, in which the Montenegrin representative Nina Žižić will participate.

Voting will be open at specific times, and all details can be found on the website www.esc.vote, as well as during the television broadcast. Viewers will be able to send up to 20 votes per show, with a secure online transaction.

In addition to online voting, the option of sending SMS messages, telephone voting to appropriate numbers, as well as voting via the official Eurovision application, remains available, in accordance with the rules in Montenegro.

An important novelty is that the entire voting process on the platform will also be available in the Montenegrin language, which further facilitates participation for all citizens.

RTCG invites all citizens to be part of this historic step forward and actively participate in creating the outcome of the most exciting music spectacle in Europe.

Your vote – your influence!
