Naser Kruezi – Nasko, a talented singer from Belgrade, brings an inspiring story about his return to the music scene after a long break. Nasko, who was born in 1984 in Belgrade, grew up in a family with deep roots in music, where from an early age he was surrounded by melodies that shaped his artistic expression. After the tragic loss of his brother in 2005, which had a profound impact on his life, Nasko took a break from his musical career, dedicating himself to emotional recovery.
His return to the music scene was made possible by his collaboration with composer Husein Buljubašić, who recognized his potential. The song Ozarena Zaljubljena, which aroused exceptional interest among listeners, marked his great return and re-elevation on the music scene. Renowned professionals participated in this project, including Husein Buljubasic who wrote the lyrics, Igor Jotić who composed the music, and Suat CukiTon Džaferoski who did the arrangement and production.
M.J.: Nasko, your story is really inspiring. To begin with, can you tell us a little more about yourself, your beginnings and your love for music?
Nasko: Music has been present in my life since childhood. I grew up in a family where music was an indispensable part of everyday life. My father was a singer, and my brothers also showed exceptional talents in singing. From an early age I was surrounded by musical influences, which naturally shaped my love for music. I sang for the first time at the age of 15, and that's when I realized that music was my calling in life.
M.J.: Your career was not without challenges. You spent many years outside the music scene. What turned you off?
Nasko: The biggest blow for me was the loss of my brother in 2005. I was extremely attached to him, and his loss was a pivotal moment in my life. After that tragic event, music became too difficult for me, and dealing with grief and loss demanded my full attention. I needed a period of introspection to recover emotionally and find my way back to music. Despite all the difficulties, music was always a part of me and I knew that I would come back in time.
M.J.: After that challenging period, you decided to return to the music scene. How did that comeback come about?
Nasko: The return to the stage is the result of collaboration with the composer Husein Buljubasic, who recognized my potential and motivated me to appear in front of the audience again. The song "Ozarena Zaljubjena" was my first step on that path. Hussain's encouragement and support were key factors in my comeback and success, and I am grateful to him for the song he wrote for me.
M.J.: Your song "Ozarena Zaljubjena" has already aroused great interest among listeners. Tell us who the people who worked on this project are.
Nasko: The song was worked on by top professionals – the lyrics were written by Husein Buljubašić, the music was composed by Igor Jotić, while the arrangement and production were done by Suat CukiTon Džaferoski and his team. Their dedication and expertise contributed to the song gaining a recognizable sound and emotional depth that I wanted to convey to the audience.
M. J.: The legendary Šaban Šaulić was your role model. How did you manage to maintain his specific style, while at the same time developing your own musical identity?
Nasko: Šaban Šaulić was, and always will be, the king of folk music for me. His ability to convey emotions through his voice and manner of singing has deeply influenced my artistic path. I try to preserve that tradition, but I try to add my own stamp. The music must be authentic and reflect my personal style and emotions, while at the same time respecting the rich heritage left by our greats like Šaban.
M. J.: How does being in France affect your music and your connection with people from the diaspora?
Nasko: Being in France shows how much music is a universal language that erases borders. No matter where I am, music connects me with people who share the same love for our roots, culture and customs. This connection is extremely important, and through music we build bridges that connect us, regardless of distance.
M. J.: How important is Roma heritage to you in your work?
Nasko: Roma heritage is the foundation of my identity and the most important element of my work. I am proud of my Roma roots, because Roma are, without a doubt, at the top when it comes to music. Through my songs, I want to convey the strength, emotions and skill that make Roma music unique. The rich Roma musical expression is my greatest inspiration, and my goal is to preserve and promote this tradition, and bring it closer to new generations through my music.
M. J.: What can we expect from your cooperation in the future, considering the successes you have already achieved?
Nasko: I will continue to work on new projects, and you can expect many more outstanding songs in the future. My work and will be designed to win over all folk music lovers. I'm sure everyone will be thrilled with what's to come.
M.J.: Finally, what would you say to your supporting audience?
Nasko: First of all, I want to thank all the fans who follow me and support my work. This song is just the beginning of my return to the music scene, I promise many more good songs. Thank you for believing in me. Your support means a lot to me, and the best is yet to come!
