"Ajkule" beat France to reach the World Cup quarterfinals

The best performance of the "Ajkule", a victory over France and a place in the quarterfinals of the World Cup qualifying tournament.

Our national team celebrated in a duel with the French 18:13 (3:4, 6:3, 4:5, 5:1), and tomorrow at 4:30 pm they will play against the USA selection for a place among the four best teams at the tournament in Romania.

Except in the first quarter, in which the rival had a two-goal advantage twice (2:0 and 4:2), Dejan Savić's chosen ones controlled the game, were aggressive in defense, and in attack Savo Ćetković and Filip Gardašević had a great performance, who scored five goals each.

Montenegro turned the match in its favor at the end of the first and by the middle of the second quarter, when it led 7:4 with a 5:0 series.

Our team then led 12:8 and 13:9, before France came back to 13:12 before the last eight minutes.

Our guys played fantastically in the last quarter - they scored five consecutive goals and gained a big plus six (18:12), and the only goal in that period was conceded about 30 seconds before the end.

In addition to Ćetković and Gardašević, Đuro Radović was efficient with three goals, Marko Mršić scored two, Danilo and Vasilije Radović scored one each, and Vlado Popadić.

Petar Tešanović had six saves in the third and fourth quarters.
