FETO leader and Turkish politician Fethullah Gulen, who Ankara claims masterminded the failed coup in 2016, has died in the United States at the age of 83, Turkish media and a website linked to Gulen said.
Gulen built an influential Islamic movement in Turkey and beyond, but spent his final years accused of orchestrating a coup attempt against Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He rejected those accusations.
Herkul, an internet site that publishes Gulen's lectures, announced on its X account that Gulen died on Sunday night in the hospital where he was receiving treatment, reports AJB.
Gulen lived in exile in the United States of America since 1999.
