The White House warned Iran of severe consequences if they attack Trump

AUTHOR: M.J. GDNUS
The White House said the United States has been closely monitoring Iranian threats against former President Donald Trump for years and warned of "severe consequences" if Tehran attacks any American citizen.
"We consider this a matter of national and internal security of the highest priority, and we strongly condemn Iran for these brazen threats," the White House said in an official statement, Reuters reports.
The spokesman for the White House National Security Council, Sean Council, also said that if Iran attacks any of the US citizens, including those who hold a government position or those who previously held it, Tehran will face "severe consequences."
The Iranians were told through diplomatic channels that Washington would consider any threat to Trump's life an act of war, the unnamed official told Reuters.
In January 2020, Trump, then serving as US president, ordered a US airstrike in Baghdad that killed the commander of Iran's elite Quds Force, General Qassem Soleimani, after receiving intelligence, according to the White House. that Soleimani is planning immediate attacks on American diplomats and armed forces in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and elsewhere in the Middle East.
Trump, the Republican candidate for the US presidential election on November 5, announced that he had received information from US intelligence officials about an alleged threat from Iran regarding his life.
