Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated today that Tehran has rejected direct talks with the U.S. in response to a letter from President Donald Trump regarding Iran's nuclear program.
This statement from Pezeshkian marks the first official response to Trump's letter and could signal that tensions between Tehran and Washington may escalate further.
"Although the possibility of direct negotiations between the two sides has now been rejected, it was emphasized that the path for indirect negotiations remains open," Pezeshkian added.
However, it remains unclear whether Trump would agree to indirect talks. In the past, indirect negotiations between Tehran and world powers in 2018 were unsuccessful.
