The influential American trade union Teamsters will not support any of the candidates in the upcoming US presidential elections, for the first time since 1996, Reuters reported.
"After reviewing polls collected across the country over six months and nearly a year following roundtable interviews with all the major presidential candidates, the union has not made a decision to endorse former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris," the union said in a statement. .
The Teamsters is America's largest union, with about 1.3 million members in the US and Canada, and whose members are mostly truck drivers and warehouse workers.
The union traditionally has better ties to the Democratic Party, but despite that, union president Sean O'Brien has recently brought the union closer to the Republican Party and is the first union president to speak at the Republican National Convention this July.
