The session of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will consider the procedure for determining the termination of the mandate of the President of the BiH entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, will most likely be held on Wednesday, Danas reports.
The CEC announced today that the session "will most likely be held on Wednesday, August 6, but that the exact date and time will be published on the official website of the CEC".
"Based on legal procedures and case law, the CEC of BiH will also act in the case of Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska," the statement said.
The CEC emphasized that this institution is carrying out its regular activities, including initiating the procedure for determining the termination of the mandate of elected officials, in accordance with the Election Law of BiH.
Milorad Dodik was sentenced last week by the Court of BiH to one year in prison and a six-year ban on holding public office for failing to implement the decisions of the High Representative in BiH.
According to the BiH Election Law, the CEC is obliged to revoke the mandate of a person sentenced to prison and a ban on holding public office within 15 days of receiving the final verdict, after which early elections for the President of Republika Srpska are called, which must be held within 90 days.
Whether Dodik will be stripped of his mandate as President of the RS on Wednesday will be decided by the CEC.
