A fire that broke out last night on the first floor of a building near Palm Boulevard in Lushnjë, Albania, was caused by a malfunction in the electrical panel of one of the residential blocks. Due to the power outage and elevator failure, the intervention of firefighters and police was made more difficult, reports the portal Lapsi.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze. Thick smoke caused by burning plastic and electrical cables further complicated the work of emergency services. Fortunately, no one was killed, but several people with breathing problems were transported to the hospital in Lushnjë for medical assistance.
Electricity has not yet been restored to the affected apartment block, but firefighters confirm that no residents are in danger in the apartments affected by fire and smoke.
Local authorities and responsible services continue monitoring and damage assessment, while citizens are advised to exercise caution in the area.
