The Yemeni capital of Sanaa has been hit by Israeli strikes, the Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah TV reported, two days after the Houthi group fired a rocket at Israel.
Residents of Sanaa said the strikes targeted areas near the presidential compound, missile bases and power plants. The Israeli military confirmed the attack, saying the targets in Sanaa included a military complex housing the presidential palace, two power plants and a fuel depot.
After Israel's war in Gaza against the Palestinian militant group Hamas began in October 2023, the Iran-aligned Houthis began attacking ships in the Red Sea, which they described as acts of solidarity with the Palestinians.
They have frequently fired missiles at Israel, most of which have been intercepted. Israel has responded by striking areas under Houthi control, including the key port of Hodeidah.
