Goran Bubić, lawyer for Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, today filed a request with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina that his client pay a fine of around 18,700 euros instead of a one-year prison sentence.
In this way, Dodik avoided having the Court of BiH send a document to his lawyers with the precise date when he must report to serve his sentence in the prison in Vojkovići, in East Sarajevo.
The Court of BiH will decide on Bubić's request, but before making a decision, the Prosecutor's Office must also be informed about everything, according to the Sarajevo portal Raport.
Dodik was also sentenced by a final and binding verdict to a six-year ban on political activity.
The Central Election Commission of BiH today stripped Dodik of the mandate of President of Republika Srpska. Dodik has the right to appeal this decision.
