The attacks of the Yugoslav Air Force were intense on May 2, 1992. On that occasion, they bombed civilian objects and killed a large number of civilians, including innocent children. During the entire Svibanj-Maya, the situation was catastrophic, the bombing did not stop day and night, and the city itself was completely destroyed. As I already told you, a large number of civilians were killed, including children, and the number of wounded and injured was measured in the thousands, our interlocutor, a witness and survivor of the Serbian aggression against Croatia, tells us.
As he states, on 02.05. In 1992, the Croatian Air Defense Forces shot down 6 MIG-21s and severely damaged a MIG-29, but the aircraft managed to escape and landed in Banja Luka. The next day, May 3, 1992, the Serbian aggressors attacked again from the air and from the ground, regardless of their targets, dropping large bombs, the so-called "sows", weighing 250 kg each, on the city and its settlements. On that occasion, they destroyed the houses around the bridge on the Sava River. That bridge was the lifeline and lifeline for the people of Bosanska Posavina. The PZO in Slavonski Brod protected that bridge for months so that the aggressors would not destroy it, and they succeeded in that. For many years, we have been marking May 2 and 3 as Days of Remembrance for the downed planes and children killed during the Homeland War.
The witness of these events, whose name is known to the editorial staff, was a member of the Association of Croatian Veterans, the Croatian Air Force and Air Defense.
